Mercury conjunct Pluto. Veiovis - The Key to the Higher Shadow.

This is a brief report on the work done during the conjunction of Mercury with Pluto at the critical degree of Capricorn.

By far one of the best "black pearls" that my spiritual and healing path has detected so far, when framed in a compassionate and morally strong setting.

Veiovis or Veiove is a very ancient italic God which was later on adopted in ancient Roman religious practice. The sources are particularly scarce and sometimes there are debates on the actual translation of the proto-Latin inscriptions. I mention this because during the research on this Archetype I have found considerable misunderstandings regarding the written sources which does not help the integration. There are only a few statues which have been preserved by both the unforgiving action of time and the intentional destruction of early Catholicism. One of the most recent emergence has happened in the world-famous sacred bath of San Casciano dei Bagni, in Tuscany, which was excavated last summer and returned the most remarkable group of bronze statues of the whole Italian nation. Among the many statues, statuettes, internal organ representations and body parts fashioned in bronze as an offering to the Spring, there was also a group of bolts, the typical attribute of Jupiter/Zeus and possibly Tinia (the Etruscan version of Zeus). The finding of the group of really remarkable statues is still in the process of restauration and study, so it is not possible at this stage to ascertain whether this group of bronze bolts were held by a statue.

Following the artifact itself and its shape has led me to discover a correspondence with the god Veioves, who is depicted as holding the same bolts in his right hand. An interesting article puts these bolts in relationship with the Vajra, recalling the constellation of archetypes of the Sky-God of Asian origin.

Analyzing the most well preserved statue (also in bronze) of this God, has lead to an emotional intelligent reading of the archetype, in which the ancient sources have been the guiding light. Veiovis is the young Jupiter/Zeus and represents its chthonic aspect. It is the Zeus of the Underworld, which has no space in the planetary archetypal constellation of Jupiter, but finds a good location within the Pluto planetary archetype.
